This place was great. I am always one for giving a second chance. Once we got to the restaurant we we're seated and had to wait over ten minutes before I had to go and get a waitress. Once we ordered we got the dozen of large crab it was out of the world. The crab was great oh and they are no refills on fountain drinks. Over all the staff was professional and knowledgeable, the crab was simple awesome and it was a little pricey but totally worth it. We will definitely be revisiting.

If I could give this place no stars I would! The restaurant was freaking empty and the waitress sat us by the door. Then after enjoying my mediocre ice tea I'm told they don't have free refills. WTF doesn't have free refills?? Bathrooms, gross. No green veggies on the menu. And the seafood was nasty! Pls don't waste your money here. You'd be happier sitting in a mile long line at McDonalds.

We asked for steamed clams, bud light lime and crab soup. Instead we got sandy steamers, bud light with a side of limes and Campbell's vegetable soup with some crab meat thrown in. Won't be back. I failed to mention my daughter's burger that came on a sub roll. Weird.

No free refills for the drinks?.....come on now..... Also no blue cheese dressing...that's bullshit....and I understand that ocean city brings foreigners to work for the summer but when I walk up to you to change something in my order don't look at me and say you didn't serve me -.- I just talked to you, if your memory is that bad you shouldn't be a waiter. not coming here again. And the topping on the cake, my mother went to use the restroom and a waiter came in asking to go before her because she really had to use the restroom, my mom lets her go first....the waiter DID NOT WASH HER HANDS, she used the bathroom and then walked out the door!!!! That's gross. I don't care how in a rush you are have to wash your hands.

Decent prices. The kids meals are only 5.99(excluding a drink) which isn't too bad if everyone opts for water. The seafood is good and pretty competitive however, I removed one star because you can't order the all you can eat crab for one person which is ridiculous.. So if you have a party of 8, no fun.

Interior need to be update. Rrstroom need to be clean, no tissue in the restroom. Kind and friendly service. Little expensice. Doz large male crabs are $65 as march 31st 2015.

This place is the worst!!!! Went with my boyfriend because he wanted all you can eat crabs. First of all it was hot as hell in there and everybody was complaining . We ordered our food bf got the crabs and I ordered a burger. Waitress comes back & tells me I have to order something other than the burger because they were scared we would share the crabs. She said I could only order a entree which was basically the same price as the crabs. WTH!? How are you gonna tell me what I can order!? So we walked out and went to Higgins which was awesome. People don't waste your time with this shit hole!

Not impressed at all. Overpriced, marginal quality seafood. We had some miniscule steamed clams as an appetizer and a forgetable flounder sandwich for lunch. No refills on soda...are you kidding me? Skip this place......

I have been coming here for 25 years. My wife and I went in our honeymoon and ate crabs. This year in July 2nd my wife wanted crabs. We decided to go. Keep in mind their quality has always been stellar. We sat down and we were informed, if my wife wanted to eat all you can eat crabs. My son and I would have to order an entree from 17 to 26 dollars. My son and I had pizza early so we were not that hungry. We explained that to the manager and there was no bending. We went down to Higgins Crab House just 1 block north and were treated very well and spent about 2 dollars more for the same all you can eat special and my son and I ate a lighter meal. Thanks Higgins Crab House I am very sad of PGN

Once more, we couldn't resist not going there again on our vacation, the seafood is just delicious, service was perfect, friendly, love that they have children options & the server was so nice with them

Excellent food!! We came to Ocean City on off season, so alot of restaurants were closed. So we decided on PGN. We were not disappointed at all. The crabs were big heavy and cooked to perfection. The cheeseburger was so fresh and perfect in portion. OH and the fried chicken was the best!! We ate at PGN twice in one day because we were so impressed. The staff was also so friendly. I highly recommend dining in or takeout you wont be disappointed!!

Skip this place. Bad customer service & poor quality food that is expensive. The hostess was very friendly and as she took us to our table the waitress said no no no they can't sit there . We said ok so we moved to a big table just my husband & I ; but yet the next customer that came in was allowed to sit there. The water that I order had a foul taste to it. My husband asked for fried onions on his sandwich again she said no no no we don't do that. Hmm??? Her only answered seemed to be no. I would advised others to never go there even if it's the only place open. (That's how bad it was!) Food was over fried ; no taste. Overall bad experience .

we were last minute rush but wish we'd looked for better. the soup is canned and crabs just so so. ambiance dated- I'd pick another.

The place wasn't the best looking but our waitress Sandy was absolutely amazing. We had a group of 12 and she was on the ball and friendly and courteous the whole time. The all you can eat crabs were amazing and their fried chicken could give any larger corporation a run for their money. It was all in all an amazing time. Thank you!!

Eat all you can eat? I think this place can be a bit misleading. It's more like eat whatever the server brings out from the kitchen. The only nice person at this restaurant was Cristiana the waiter from Romania that was waiting on us. The rest of the staff were very unfriendly, act like they didn't wanna be there, looked pissed/sad and or like zombies. I will definitely not visit the restaurant again. The only way I will come here again is if Cristiana is waiting my table. PS: You can't split the check/bill so make sure you have cash. Also the refill is not free!

Was pleasantly surprised when I ate here with wife and kids. Had the seafood platter. Daughter had ribs. Wife had fried shrimp. Boy had PGN Burger. No wait for a table during peak tourist season!

I've lived in Baltimore and know what large crabs are. Was disappointed on what they think large crabs are. The reviews from people must not know what large crabs are. Service good. The crabs were not meaty at all.

Ok, so it's not much to look at from the outside. Not much to look at from the insider, either. But to our surprise and delight, the food was awesome. Their specialty is the all you can eat steamed Maryland crabs, but we opted for a less robust lunch and instead ordered steamed shrimp and steamed snow crab legs, corn on the cob and coleslaw. The portions were abundant and perfectly spiced. The local-hole-in-the-wall atmosphere actually added to the charm, and the services was genuine, home-town friendly in an otherwise frantic part of the OCMD. We'll be back!

  • Victoria S.

After turning to my trusty Yelp app to find a quick spot for lunch. I came across a number of "crab" and "seafood" joints. Obviously, I'm in OCMD but I had a hankerin' for either peel and eat shrimp or some type of shell fish. We stopped at a few places which were more like quick pick up places. It was a Sunday and after saying "no" to a few locations we popped into this place. Nothing fancy, which was just what I wanted, there was a quick pick up side and a side with tables, checkered tablecloths and tons of people eating crabs. They had a great waitress that came over right away and explained all their options. When we saw the "steamer" basket on page two of the menu I was done looking. It came with snow crab legs, clams and large peeled shrimp. Like what else do you need? Having just busted through my wallet on crabs weeks prior I was happy for the price difference. The seafood tasted fresh and we loved everything. We cleaned house and even had a side of onion rings. The prices were great and I even heard the waitress say they had an All you Can Eat Crab deal. I noticed a few families partaking in that. They had a nice list of things to eat, fried and steamed. They even had a couple non-seafood items on the list for those of you that... you know, go to a beach and don't eat seafood! Try this place if you're looking for casual! It was great.

PGN Crab House offers food cart quality fare at high end restaurant prices. PGN gives the feeling that it is some how doing customers a favor by being open. This restaurant is less than average on all points. All the food at our table was unremarkable at best. Everything we ordered was over cooked, over salted and all the meals at our table tasted like they were prepared in the same pan. Getting seated was fairly quick, but watching the chaos of the servers was uncomfortable. Not a good floor show for a group you may not know well. None of the servers I observed communicated with the kitchen nor the customers effectively. Asking question or seeking any feed back from any of the staff was met with exasperated stares and mutters. The less than flavorful food, the refusal of PGN to accommodate billing requests, or to offer simple curtsies and the unprofessional nature of the staff would make me warn against eating here.

I had the stream crab combo. It was tasty. I substitute the claims for the crab soup. I did not like the crab soup. Other then that the food was good 'z I was told it was going to be a half hour wait. To my surprised we sat within 5 min. I will come again. For just basic crab legs steam shrimps and claims (next time)

I enjoyed the all you can eat crabs specials with a group of friends. When we first got there at like 3:30pm the place was not packed but once it was packed around dinner time (5pm), it became busy. But overall the actual size of the crab was a pretty good size for small and meaty for it not be crab season yet. The price was also good, at. I was very impressed. Well done PGN!!!

Great food at this restaurant. I had the popcorn shrimp and the crab legs. Everything tasted great. I was impressed with the food and service. The food came out pretty fast. The restaurant's look is kind of rustic but the food makes up for that.

I went to maryland during the summer to eat some delicious crabs and I came across this crab house. Pretty big and the staff there are super friendly and welcoming. I went with three other girls and we ordered two dozen blue crabs and cornnnnnnn! mmmmmm We only stayed there for the weekend but we had to go back for the crabs. The whole time we visited, we went every day for crabs and we even bought a few dozen back home to New York for family. Can't wait to go back when I'm around the area :)

I retract my rating. Owner needs to overhaul restaurant and attitude. Yelling at waitresses in front of customers is no ok.

Found ourselves hungry at 8:00 pm last night with very little choice of places to eat off-season on a Thursday in Ocean City. Many places were closed or had closed early. We came upon PGN and based on reviews decided to give it a try. I thought it was a little worn looking when we entered but my opinion changed once I ate the food. We were the only customers and placed our orders at 8:30 and then found out the restaurant closed at 9:00 PM but we never felt rushed. I ordered the blackboard special stuffed flounder. Living on Long Island I've had many a stuffed flounder over the years but this was by far one of the best I've ever had. Juicy, flaky flounder done just right and packed full of shrimp, scallops, crab cooked just until tender and juicy. Nothing was overcooked which I find to be rare with many stuffed dishes. It came with a baked potato that I scooped out and put into the butter sauce of the flounder because it was just that good! My husband ordered their famous fried chicken that everyone seems to rave about and he was soon raving too. It was excellent! A delicious crispy outside and a tender juicy interior, again perfectly cooked. He had a Coke to drink and I ordered a glass of wine. They do not have a wine list, just house wine, but I was given a nice large glass of red, so I was a happy camper! I recommend this restaurant and would love to go back to try their crabs and other seafood.

Every summer I make my way to Ocean City at least once. When I do, my cousins and I always round up our uncle that lives in Ocean Pines and take our annual trek to PGN for AYCE crabs. Well, this year it turned into an episode of when keeping it real goes wrong. After a 40 minute wait to be seated (not at all strange for a large party on a Saturday night at the beach) we were told that our party could not sit together unless everyone planned on ordering the AYCE or ordering one of the entrees. Well, slight problem here. My sister has been a vegetarian/vegan for almost 20 years. Usually, she will just order her own side of corn and some french fries, but this year they put the kibosh on that. Disappointment #1. Then, one of my cousins and her friend indicated that they only wanted to something light anyway, so they suggested breaking up our table by a few feet so that our family could still honor the separate dining policy for those not ordering AYCE, but so that the family could still remain close and enjoy each other's company. They put the kibosh on that as well. Disappointment #2. But what I think was truly the most disappointing part of the whole evening was their lack of desire to accommodate or communicate. Our first waitress was dismissive and never followed up when asked to speak with a manager. Then things got really awkward, when my cousin asked "I don't understand why things have to be so black and white" and the waitress contested "I'm not racist!" Yes, my family is a blended bunch, but no idea why race would even come to mind from that comment when English seemed to be her first language. Overall just an awkward, disappointing evening. Eventually, our appetites were so soured from the experience that our party of 9 just got up and left to get pizza so that we could remain united. Luckily, the next day we discovered Higgin's which I would enthusiastically recommend over PGN. The experience between the two is literally day and night. (Not black and white!)

We went at the end of last season. The crabs were over steamed and the other dishes were poor. The service was also poor. We will never go back when there are so many other good options in oc.

Excellent food and wonderful staff here!! Great quality seafood, this is "where the locals go". They offer an all you can eat crab special, but you must order it for the whole table (for every person seated). Because some people in our group aren't crab fans, we just went with individual platters. Pricing was great for the quality and quantity. I had the combo of snow crab legs, steamed clams, and steamed seasoned shrimp. Delicious!! Also, I have a gluten and dairy allergy, and I was completely comfortable eating here. Highly recommended!!

Visited this place on vacation with my sister and a friend. We decided to pig out and get the AYCE crabs which comes with French fries, corn, and fried chicken for $23.95. Each person has to pay the AYCE price which is understandable. Since we paid less than we would've for a dozen each, I was expecting rather small female crabs but I just thought "well we can have as much as we want so it'll still be worth it" however we got all male crabs, mixed sizes but mostly pretty big. We asked for a crab "refill" and got just as many as we did the first time, even though we were expecting them to cut back. The next refill we ended up asking for less because we were so stuffed but the crabs tasted so good. Our waitress brought out 4 rather large crabs. All of the crabs were so delicious and very well seasoned. The fries and chicken were great too. Only cons is they do not accept American Express, so be aware of that. And there are no free refills or split checks so if you're coming with a large group expect for all of the money to be put on one persons card or everyone should bring cash so you can all pitch in. (so really, I'd give them 4.5 stars if it were possible but since the crabs are so good I'll be generous) All in all, I would definitely return but maybe just for a dozen as I left so full I could barely walk back to my hotel.

Arrived at PGN Crab House about 30 minutes before closing. I ordered a dozen female crabs, my husband had a shrimp salad and my 7 year old daughter a kids burger and fries.......EVERYTHING WAS GREAT! Waitress was accommodating, food was tasty and price was great. I will be going back to PGN to take crabs home with me.

We got crabs to go. They were absolutely delicious. If I'd have any reviews, the seasoning was a bit overwhelming and very salty. The menu boards were very old. It looked like a true "ma and pa" place.

  • Ruth T.

Unlike the bombastic "locally sourced" movement, it is nice of find a place that's truly local without the pretense or guilt trip. I enjoyed the AYCE crabs twice at PGN. I am a native Marylander whose family is from the Easter Shore, home of crabs. I have never had better crabs than at PGN. The crabs were MD crabs, sweet, tender and succulent. They were spiced perfectly for me, and not too salty. Even the side dishes were good. At an AYCE crab night, no one usually bothers with the sides, BUT, the corn was so fresh butter was not needed. The fried chicken was also first rate! It was fresh and had a good crispy skin. It was not overly battered, but just right. Again, I can't say enough good things about the food. Staff is friendly, and service is quick considering it's all cooked to order. I looked on the plates of those not having AYCE crabs and the portions are very large. However, if you're on the hoity toity side, you will hate the décor. This family owned, independent restaurant was opened in around 1970 and the décor has remained the same. Even the music is from the 70's & 80's. Like the title says, enjoy the food, ignore the décor.

The owner was horrifyingly rude to her employees, and it made for a truly unpleasant experience. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, but her discomfort was palpable as she apologized profusely for the owners inhospitable behavior. The all-you-can-eat crab option is a win, but I don't see myself returning until ownership changes hands. With such a profoundly stressful and negative environment, even a truly good meal can be ruined.

Ehhh...... So, this place is OKAY. It wasn't amazing, but it wasn't bad either. I ordered a broiled crab cake sandwich with a side order of fries. The crab was falling apart on the bun which is fine, but it was a little messy to eat. Whereas my boyfriend got the burger with all the additives on there. He liked his meal pretty good with no complaints. My complaint is that is it is a bit pricey and quality for me was a bit lacking. I don't know, I guess it just wasn't what I had expected when eating crab. I love crab and I know good quality crab, and it seemed to lack that bit of umph that I was looking to have here. My fault for having expectations before eating here. Our server was a bit out of it. She wasn't really into serving us as much as we would have liked her to. Otherwise, she was friendly and helpful when we asked her for suggestions of where we should visit. Would I come back? I think it is worth a second chance. I will say this though, the restaurant looks about 30 years old past its time and really needs an interior face lift. I think it would give the restaurant a little bit more character and would be a little bit more welcoming instead of rolling in and thinking of my grandmother's house.

the place is a rip-off We have been going there the last few years but after last week I will never eat there again. We had called about the price of the AYCE crabs, an hour later we arrived at the restaurant. We were waiting to be seated when my friend heard the lady on the phone say that there were no more AYCE crabs. I asked if this was true and she said yes but that we could buy crabs by the dozen, with the lowest price being $30 This is ridiculous. The restaurant was full of people eating crabs, the sign advertises AYCE, it doesn't say anything about crab size. If you have crabs, then you have crabs. We went to Higgins that night and we enjoyed the food and I am sure that they enjoyed the business (9 people were at the table) This practice is bait and switch and I think something should be done about it. And the lady behind the counter who was in charge needs to be schooled in how to deal with customers

A must when I'm down in OC great AYCE blue crabs, corn, fries as well as the best fried chicken!!! Hot! Crispy! And juicy! Yum! I get withdrawals when I'm back here in Jersey!!! The staff has always been wonderful! They always offer to bring you more! I miss this place!!!

We went to PGN Crab House in Ocean City on May 19 because it was near our hotel, The Dunes Manor. I asked to see the largest crabs they had. I wasn't optimistic because the crabs at the Wharf in the Washington, D.C. area, where I live, are as small as pet turtles at this time of year. Embarrassing and maybe illegal. Anyway, the server brought out some samples. Long story short, the crabs were colossal. I ordered one and a half dozen and ate a few at the restaurant and brought most back to the hotel. It took me 3 days to finish them. This was my late Mother's Day splurge so I will not apologize for spending big bucks. How did they taste? The best crabs I have ever had, including great ones that I have cooked myself. The restaurant was clean and the server was excellent; not the Taj Mahal for sure, but who cares. I even tried a Bud Lime for the first time; great. I went to the Wharf on Memorial Day and was so disappointed, as I had been back in April. What could explain the pathetic size of the crabs offered for the same price as OC. Can anyone suggest why the huge size difference? I love the Wharf. I have been going there since I was five but on MD I had my rolling cooler all ready, and left with King Crab legs instead of blue crabs. Sigh. I refuse to buy tiny crabs. I feel that it is bad for the entire industry and sustainability. If I were the activist type I would lead a protest. Anyway, PGN, please keep up the good work. I might have to drive for 3 hours just for the crabs. Cheers.

I like PGN. The service is good, the crabs are great. Considering the restaurant is fairly small It wasn't over crowded like a lot of crab houses in the area. I ordered 1 dozen male crabs and was perfectly full filled. The crab soup was not bad, I've had better though.

My husband is a third-generation Baltimore guy, so when he compliments a crab house, it's high praise indeed. Both of us (first-generation here) think this is the best place to get crabs in Ocean City. The main attraction is the steamed blue crabs, which are always hot, never mushy and heavy with sweet meat. All-you-can-eat, mixed small and medium size? $23. Yep, $23. Commence angelic chorus. With AYCE comes corn and French fries (decent) and the best fried chicken in the Northeast. It's juicy and tender, covered with the lightest, crispest skin you could imagine in your dreams. That said, I always find it best to fill up on crabs first; if I start eating chicken or fries, my momentum slows way down. I've heard good things about their snow crab legs and clams, but I pretty much always want steamed crabs when I come here. I have had their shrimp, which are meaty and tender. Their burgers and cheese steaks are good. Vegetables are predictably blah. Service is pretty consistently great. This last time, our server (Katherine?) must have checked in with us every 15 minutes for the several hours we were there. It's spottier when the place is packed, but they're generally happy to bring more of anything, anytime. The decor and ambience are typical of a crab house. Lots of dusty knick-knacks on the walls; a blue-collar clientele that frequently includes screaming children. A romantic dinner spot, it's not. But you will have great crabs and a great time.

Best crabs in Ocean city!! The homemade crab soup is amazing. They also make delicious cole slaw so make sure you get that as a side. The all you can eat crabs are always delicious and reasonably priced plus you get fried chicken, fries and corn. The crab cakes are always so good and made with lump crabmeat. You won't be disappointed.

The Love of My Life and I were in O.C. for our 1-year anniversary and decided that this would be the best time for LoML to learn how to shuck and suck, so to speak - so after careful consideration, we headed to PGN Crab House, which was only a short few blocks from our hotel. There was a bit of a misstep right away service-wise; we were acknowledged and seated, but were ignored for about 15 minutes or so while others who had come in after us were getting their orders taken. This kind of thing BURNS me, and LoML knows it - especially after a table who was seated after us was approached by two different servers while we're simply waiting to be noticed. I think it was only after one of the servers caught me glaring across the room at them that they finally realized, "Uh, whoops, maybe we'd better take their order now." This, however, was the last mistake of the evening, to our profound relief. We ordered the AYCE crab feast - I know, I know, it's a way for them to get rid of the small crabs, but hey - no offense - B.F.D. I don't care, it's all you can eat - so what if they're small? That means they have to bring out as many as they think I can handle. Little do they know that I'm Maryland born and bred and can put down three dozen without blinking if I want. So as far as I'm concerned - bring 'em on. The crabs were indeed a bit smaller than considered "normal" - but they were actually heavy with meat, juicy, and not at all waterlogged or "bad". After a basic tutorial on how to shuck, LoML was up and running like a damned native. I was absolutely shocked - how does this Las Vegas boy know how to crab-pick? Impressive! AYCE was 23.99 per person - NOT bad for the 4 dozen or so that the two of us demolished. Also, LoML treated himself to a nice big pitcher of Bud - nice and smooth with the crabmeat. We also ordered a plate of large steamed shrimp - those damned shrimp were GLANDULAR cases. Bloody freaking HUGE. And delicious. They brought out a plate of chicken, fries and cob corn, but it was never touched. We were ALL about that seafood and beer. Ryan was our server - after the initial misstep, he was very attentive, polite and had our crabs out to the table even before we could ask for them. He was very nice and made the experience a pleasant one. We'd come back to PGN for the crabs, most definitely. The AYCE crabs may have been 'smaller than usual' but they were surprisingly heavy and had good flavor. Once LoML gets a little more experience in shucking, he'll be a 6 dozen man for sure. Recommended.

This was my first experience with MD blue crabs....not a fan. I just think Alaskan's are easier to crack and much more meat. But my husband, a native Marylander....loved them. We will probably be back....can't beat that price and they were not super busy. The only setback was a language barrier with the waitress...FYI the crab soup is not cream based.

Came with a friend to this place craving crabs. The restaurant itself has an ambiance like you would expect from your grandma: kitschy, dated, and homey. The server was nice and attentive (I mean, she better have been considering we were one of the only tables in the whole place!) but seemed new and unsure of herself. Between the two of us, we tried crab soup, crab cakes, a plate of shrimp and a half dozen crabs. The crab soup was more like vegetable soup with a few strings of crab thrown in- not very meaty at all. I enjoyed the crab cakes, but I was only half and half on the half dozen crabs. Some of the crab meat was delicious, some had a consistency that did not appeal to me. Also, why do they always bring the crab out all at once? I wish they wouldn't because half the crabs always go cold before I can finish them. Total was about 50$ before tip. Bottom line: the meal was fine, but I would explore other crab shacks in the area before coming here again.

One of the better crab houses around. Crabs were tasty. Waitress was wonderful and accomodating. Definitely would go back.

Dirty. Waitress told us to follow her and sped off to a table and threw down the menus. I ordered the "crab soup". Gross- should've been called vegetable soup with a few shreds of crab in it.

Don't be fooled by this non-descript and easy-to-miss place. We went in for steamed crabs and loved it! It's in the older part of Ocean City, and that's what makes it so endearing. The interior is old school and features mostly incandescent lighting (we are not fans of fluorescent lights), and there's a realness to the place. We got the jumbo crabs, true jumbos, too. We reserved them in advance and received them within fifteen minutes of sitting down. Speedy! Although the backfin didn't pull well, the taste was **heavenly**. The crab meat was sweet, plump, not overcooked and not water-logged; we didn't get a single bad one. The only nits we'd mention is that the beer selection is limited. Yeungling is the best that they offer, and they were out of it last night. We like to start our crab dining with a shot or two of tequila to supercharge our night, soon after switching to beer. In lieu of distilled spirits, it would be so much nicer to have beer with a high alcohol content like Dogfish Head. When in OC, we will be back again!

Food & service was terrible. The fried chicken was greasy and we waited forever. The waiter only brought out one meal and the rest of our party waited quite a long time. The people who actually had the seafood were ill after it for quite a long time. Never again.

The fried chicken here is great! Also must get the all you can eat crabs that comes with chicken, fries and corn. Stay away from the pizza....yellow American cheese on pizza = garbage!! Overall great place for the crabs! Def check it out when in Ocean city!

Good food, service is a little wanting. The prices are a bit high for the area. The Scallops were fresh and tender, the steamed clams were fresh, clean, and tasty. My only complaint was our waitress and the prices but even that didn't stop us from coming back for a second time.

I was here last weekend and the weather was very dreary. The only thing on my mind was crabs. I was staying at a hotel a few blocks from this place so came here for lunch and it was empty (I really think it was because of the weather). The staff was really really sweet, patient, and nice and answered all of our questions as we (a party of 5) didn't really know what to get. We were about to get AYCE crabs, but when we realized that they would be medium or small crabs (my understanding is that the small/med crab size is for AYCE crabs anywhere). We ended up getting an order of dozen large crabs, and then then 6-20-6 (6 crabs, 20 shrimp, 6 clams).. everything was SO GOOD and filling! The crabs were so heavy, and even the claws were cooked perfectly and not dry. The old bay seasoning was just about right. This place satisfied my crab craving. We also got a crabcake and it was delicious - lots of crab and none of the other "fillers." I went to Higgins that weekend also and I really preferred PGN. The only reason I wouldn't go here is if you are with a big crowd as it is a tiny place.. but then I would request we take it to go! If ever I find myself in OCMD, I will definitely come back here.

Wonderful place to get all you can eat crabs. Good quality and size for the price. With the all you can eat you get chicken, fries, and corn. I would have given them 5 stars if they added shrimp. I also wanted hush puppies but they do not have them on their menu. Overall a great experience :)

  • Sarah F.

This place was not very good. The service sucked (the waitresses barely spoke English and got our order wrong) and the food was sub-par. The clams were so salty and sandy, they didn't give us any water to rinse them off on. Overall it wasn't a good experience, but we're at the beach so there's one positive aspect of the night.

Mediocre at best. Soft shell crab sandwich was just ok. Onion rings were pretty bad. No free refills on soft drinks. No split checks. Would not go back.

We visited OC on vacation last week and my husband was determined to get his AYCE crab jones satisfied while we were there so we looked to see what Yelpers were suggesting. PGN was a 3 block walk from where we were staying so we strolled over there and we were seated immediately. He knew he wanted crabs and ordered the AYCE right away---I don't do seafood and I was torn between the ribs and the chicken. I went with the ribs which were ok, I now wish I'd gone with the chicken because I tasted the piece that came with my husband's crabs and it was SO good. Moist, crunchy---they have a no sharing policy on AYCE or I would've asked him to keep ordering more chicken for me to eat. He really enjoyed the crabs. The corn was fresh and delicious too and our waitress was very attentive. Only one thing annoyed me and that was the number of flies that seemed to be dive bombing us throughout dinner. I don't think that was an indication of cleanliness---just the door constantly opening and closing and I guess the flies wanted in on the crab feast. We'll definitely return next year.

I have NEVER been to a place where I felt super uncomfortable. Came in with a party of 12 and was not even greeted by our server... Come to find out later, her names Sandy (after asking her what her name was). We asked a few questions about the menu since it was our first time there, and she wasn't very polite, nor did she seem interested. After everyone in my family decided they wanted the all you can eat, I needed a little bit more time with the menu and asked for more time.. She responded with, "well I can't put in your order until you tell me what you want because they see that one person didnt order the all you can eat" RUDE. We asked her to just get our drunk orders and by then, ill be ready. When she came back .. I told her I wanted the crab sandwich, and she was once again, rude by stating, "look, they can see you through the window, so you guys better not share these all you can eat meals. I don't want to deal with it, and have to charge you extra". I'm sorry, but I'm a server myself at a seafood restaurant and that's just about as rude as it gets. I don't appreciate the way she talks to her guests.. And if you want people to continue coming here, then I suggest you get better, more enthusiastic servers (of course no one likes being servers.. But at least ACT like you like the job) Needless to say, we ended up going to Higgins' paying $320 (plus an extra $15 tip because our server was AWESOME), and enjoyed paying every cent of it with WAY better service, and had great customer service :) as for Sandy... You wouldn't have deserved that "15%" gratuity tip even if we stayed. Go find a job you enjoy, or quit being prejudice. Whatever the problem may be, you ARE the worst server I've ever been in contact with. As for the food, I guess I'll never know if it was good or not.

I stumbled across to PGN in September and was pleasantly surprised. The larger crabs had better prices than Higgins. Our steamed crabs were delicious (but Higgins was better) and the corn did not disappoint. Ryan was an excellent server, providing great service. Again I would avoid the all you can eat crab deals. I would rather splurge on the largest crab inventory. Try the fried oysters appetizer. The Chincoteague Oysters were delicious and on my list of great things I've eaten. IFTHP 1

Now this is a place to eat!!! We reserved crabs earlier the day that we went and the crabs were on our table within ten minutes of our arrival. Service was great and the food was great. Heavy crabs. If you're looking for a good crab house, go here! (Not galaxy 66, that place is terrible)

No wonder the place was empty. We ordered all you can eat crabs. The price was $35 per person for male crabs. That is about $10 more than their competitors but PGN does include excellent fried chicken. The crabs were good but a bit small and clearly way over priced. Adding insult to injury we never got offered seconds on the chicken and never received our refill of hot butter we requested, even though the place was empty. Not good. I have learned not to expect much at shore restaurants over the years. Time to try another place.

The boy and I usually frequent Bahama Mama's but a friend recommended PGN for the steamed crabs. We ordered our usual - a dozen extra large of steamed blue crabs - and when our platter came out pipin' hot with the scent of old bay seasoning wafting through the air, we knew we were in for a treat! These were body builder crabs! Big, juicy, meaty with surprisingly clean bellies - so you know they've been scrubbed. Delicately seasoned so the crab taste was able to shine. We sat in silence, hammering at shells, sucking on claws and slurping up the wonderful juices. This place is your basic no frills crab dive with brown paper over the tables allowing you to whack at your crabs with the mini mullet. Service is friendly and helpful to offer suggestions which is always a bonus. They also do AYCE but we prefer the larger more meaty specimens that you can only order by the dozen. We'll be back during our annual Ocean City visit.

Patrons definitely do not come here to see the decor or sit in the 70's inspired dining area listening to the static-y 70's soft rock coming thru the speakers. But they must however, come in droves for the excellent native crab boil! Not a fancy tourist trap. This is the real deal- basic & finger licking deliciousness. Wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable staff. We didn't do the "all u can eat" either. Table wrapped in butcher's paper, roll of paper towels, pitcher of whatev you like to wash it down with & go to town! If you know how to eat crab & want a variety get the (i think its called ) the 6/20/4- boiled w Old Bay shrimp, little necks, cole slaw, 1/2 doz crabs. The crabs were a med size- a bit more work but worth it. Also had the fried chicken- took a little longer to get it but it was well worth it! Hot, crunchy, moist, delish! Decent fries. Didn't care for the milky sweet slaw. Surprisingly good salad w lump crab- good tomatoes & lots of cucumbers. Extra everything on the side: drawn butter, lemons, cocktail sauce, hot sauce. A fun (& very messy!) & authentic experience.

The crabs here were so good and the price is right. The workers here are so friendly, I ordered 3 dozens to bring it back home and they packed it really nice. Was definitely generous on the seasoning on the side. Can't wait to come back and have this again!

If you're going to order AYCE.. than stop reading... Maryland disposes their itty bitty clawed friends through that avenue- chocked up by fried foods and other tummy fillers. If you order by the dozen (highly recommended to experience OC properly) than read on. PGN has hands down the best crabs I've scouted so far. They truly steam to order. No reheated messes. And they don't hype up their offerings. If they say they're good and heavy with meat, they mean it. I normally just go to a seafood joint near my house and pickup to go ($35-$40 cheaper). But if I'm not wanting to clean up extraneous shell bits after and not scar my dinner table any further, then I come here. Delicious..

can i give this a 0 star? they treated our group like a bunch of dogs. no drink refills. take forever and a half to give us some more crabs. then they had the nerve to accuse us of planning to share the all you can eat crabs before we even ordered. they said if more than 1 of us order the ayce all you can eat crabs then everyone had to do it because we were going to be probably sharing the crabs illegally. cmon now. my moms over 60 yrs old, shes really not a crab type person. and we had a few little kids with us as well. this place is ridiculous. when we asked for bread instead of a roll for my 3 year old, i think the bill was charged an extra 4 bucks. then they charged an extra 20% tip. never going back. warning- stay away. i should have listened to a buddy but i didnt believe him that this place was so bad. i recommend higgins or the blue crab in bethany.

This review is only for the fried shrimp. Had a take out order on a saturday night, and they were delicious. The place is not beautiful, but I don't really care. As long as I can get these shrimp before I go to the club, I am all good.

Got here 45 minutes before closing, ordered crabs, and the manager came out to warn that they were closing at 11:00 and that I could take my crabs to go. They starting cleaning up at 10:50 and had an attitude that I stayed 5 minutes past closing - even wouldn't let me wash my hands after I was done. I'm not going to speculate on why I got such bad service - I'm just going to give them one star and try and move on with my life.

Finding this place was the jackpot for me! I don't want to go to some tourist trap over priced dining restaurant with hundreds of people. I was just looking for a quaint 'crab-feastin' place and wow did I find it! Our server Lindsay was the best and the crabs were hot, heavy and spiced perfectly! I could spend the whole day there and can not wait to go back! The place smelled like heaven when we walked in ; full of happy people banging away cracking open freshly steamed; savory, out of this world crabs! If you are going to be in the Ocean City or even Assateague vicinity, get your butt over to this place and dive in!

Good all you can eat crab feasts with fantastic chicken legs and corn on the cob served along side. We go for just the chicken entree sometimes which gives you half a fried chicken, soft rolls, salad or coleslaw and fries or a potato for $13.50. Huge portions for that price, particularly for OC. Good service and an outdated decor that gives you a sense of the history of the place. One of our OC favs.

I used to come to OC and get all you can eat...but then I wisened up and started ordering the Medium..which then my gf realized they were not big enough so we bumped it up to the LARGE. LARGE crabs is where it's AT!! It comes doused in Old Bay if u dig that, but our last day in OC, we requested old bay on the side and my HEART thanks me...well whats left of my cold black heart anyways. PGN has great crabs, decent service and some cute waitresses. PS - get the ribs if you want a meat, anything else is a SHAM. We also tried the fried chicken and I would have to say KFC gives you better.

I've been vacationing in OC for the past three years and I have been trying different crab houses. PGN has been the best so far. Nothing fancy...in fact it's a tad divey. But let's be real, it's a crab house. It shouldn't have to be too nice. Tables, chairs, butcher paper, a wooden mallet and a roll of paper towels...what more do you need? The crabs are what matter and this place does it right. We went for a dozen large crabs which were $50. They had jumbos for $80, but that's more than I'm willing to spend for crabs. The larges were very big. Cant even imagine what the jumbos looked like. The crabs were perfectly steamed with just enough old bay. I like that they gave us melted butter and vinager on the side. What a great meal. I shall return!

Its time for me the venture out of New York City and onto one of the more famous cities for seafood. That's right. Ocean City! The broadwalk, the smell of ocean air, the motels, and the kids.... The first pit stop as we arrived in Ocean City is PGN Crab House. PGN stands for People gone nuts. And yes, I must say, I gone nuts for the crabs! The menu is simple. One legal size paper of food. Not much choices, but then again, all you really want are blue crabs. So in the end, we order 1 dozen of medium male crabs for $26, half dozen steam clams for $3.75, a pan burger $7.95. Nothing fancy. We just wanted to get lunch out of the way. What I was expecting was a simple dozen of blue crabs about the size of a child's hand and what do I get? Blue crabs the size of my husband's hand! It was so packed full of meat and the taste was unforgettable. The meat was a mouth full, the shell of the crab has been baked to a crisp, yet the flesh was still so juicy and so fresh! The bellies were cleaned and there was no sand whatsoever. I have to say the seasoning was a bit too much though. After awhile it became over-powering and I would say, the seasoning enough stung a bit. The burger was your typical American burger made just right, so there was no complain there. The steam clams were also your typical steam clams, made right, and without any at. Unlike the ones you get from, let's say Hooters. Overall, it was a good start for our weekend in Ocean city!

Rejected by Higgins down the street (supposedly closed at 8:40pm on a friday night!!!! ) we were determined to have a magnificent crab experience after such a long painful drive in rain and stop&go traffic from Manhattan... thankfully I suggested walking around a little bit when we fell upon the giant "all you can eat crabs" sign in front of this lifesaving establishment. The carryout pickup area may seem discouraging, and the empty old school dining room could put you off - but when I asked if we could dine in and the teenager pulled out some menus, it was a saving grace. We ordered 6 jumbo crabs, salad, fried oysters, corn on the cob and a pitcher of bud light (the beer selection does leave something to be desired :/ ) This was the first time I had fried oysters, really love them on the half shell, but been dying to try some fried - wow, what an explosion of happiness in my mouth. There was so much Chincoteague sweet meat tenderness with just the right amount of fresh-out-of-the-fryer crunchy breading. I'm afraid to order them again because if the next experience isn't as magical as the first I'll be devastated. The meal was perfect and complete, we ate everything and yet somehow I didn't feel like I ate too much. The only thing that could have made this meal more perfect would have been a deliciously refreshing sixpoint sweet action ;)

My favorite Ocean City place to eat, the crab is totally awesome. they have great french fries and other types of seafood. service was fast and friendly, when we went it was in the winter and only a few palces were open. so they did not have the all you can eat available at that time, so we jsut ordered a la carte from the menu. When we went it was lunch time and there was only one other family in there eating, there a few parking spots out front, so you dont have to park on the street.

I'm a OC Local. Usually when my family and I go out to get crabs, we always go to Watermans BUT since they are remodeling and etc, my best friend and I decided to go out to PGN's seafood on our nice day off. The seafood was okay. I've had better. The portions were nice sized but like I said, I've had better. Our waitress that we had was okay too. She checked up on us every once in awhile and was nice but the rest of the staff was VERY rude and inconsiderate. Espescially the older woman that was there. As soon as we walked in, my best friend asked her a simple question about their AYCE special and she had a attitude for no reason. I've worked in the restaurant business for many years myself but that's no way to act especially when someone was trying to ask you a simple question. Oh well. I'll stick to my Watermans when it opens back up. You won't see me back at PGN Crab house anytime soon.

Shared a dozen large crabs, a half pound of shrimp, fries and cold slaw. crabs were very juicy and tasty. fries were plain but we sprinkled a bunch of PNG's awesome old bay seasoning on them and they were delicious after that. Shrimp were also very tender and well seasoned. This is a great place to go to get your crab on. Prices were very reasonable as well.

Although the restaurant looks kinda old & dingy..the food was pretty good. We had steamed crabs, shrimp, clams, & corn. We didn't have the all-you-can- eat deal but sometimes you just don't want to stuff yourself silly. Prices are reasonable as well. Service was a little slow to get seated but overall it's a good place to eat

4.5 stars! Don't judge a "crab house" by the quality of their other food... My boyfriend and I have made it a habit to come here for their all-you-can-eat crabs anytime we are in Ocean City. C'mon, only $22 per person!!! I know the crabs are smaller when you get this special but seriously, who cares about the size when you can have as many as you want! 1.5 of these crabs can equal their next size up, which isn't that much of a difference and it's not like the quality of their meat taste any difference, it's just porportion. So why pay more for a dozen medium crabs when you can pay less and eat as many as your heart desires! I know there are tons of crab houses but this is by far the most affordable for the quantity/quality. It's OC, all the crabs are taken from the same place. If you want something fancier, go to Philips down the street or one of the many seafood buffets for other options besides crabs. They put the brown paper on the table, give you a small mallet and a bucket. Simple... that's all I really want from my crab house, no frills. We always have a good time here and they are pretty attentive/bring our next tray of crabs quickly. If you order the buffet, it comes with fries too! Don't waste your time on the fried chicken or corn that comes with it.... not good. I love having corn on the cob as a side when I eat seafood and this place disappoints in this area but it's nothing crucial. No free refills on drinks either. -1/2 star for these two things. I always look forward to coming back here when I'm in OC. Closer to the beach and cheaper for the same buffet than Hoopers too!

After being a loyal customer for several years, I was a bit disappointed by how things have changed this year. We called beforehand to order takeout, and ordered a dozen jumbo crabs (they said they had 2 dozen jumbo left) for $80. After coming home, there was only 1 crab that was actually a jumbo, 6 of the were large and the rest were small. The dozen steamed clams were not fresh at all. Thankfully the shrimp was fresh. The actual crabs were objectively juicy and tasty, but the fact we had paid $80 for what was essentially large and small left a bad taste. My advice: don't ever order jumbo from this place even if they say they have it.

PGN is a favorite restaurant of mine in OC. I love the seafood combos - they have unusual dinner combos like clams, blue crabs, and steamed shrimp. No A/C in summer. Comfortable layed back atmosphere and within walking distance from our condo.

We stopped in here for a quick bite about an hour before they closed. It has more of a family owned restaurant vibe over a crab house, but in a good way. They were very accommodating and our server, Ryan was really nice. He seemed to enjoy his job. I got a crab cake sandwich, which was pretty much all crab, and no cake. Yum. Their coleslaw was perfectly crunchy and mayo-ey and tasted homemade. We didnt get AYCE crabs, but their prices were about five dollars cheaper than somewhere else we did go. Five stars, check it out.

I came here with 6 friends based on reviews on here. I wanted to order all you can eat crabs since they are reviewed highly. However, I learned that your whole table must order all u can eat not just 1 or 2 people. I was not pleased with this and since I was with 6 friends 2 of which do not like crab I could not order the all u can eat. The reason we were told was because they don't want people to share. Its a ridiculous rule. I decided to order the steamed clams. Boy was I suprised! Now some people might like their clams to taste a little fresh. These clams tasted like sea water and only sea water. Worst clams I've ever had. If you come here make sure you and everyone order the crabs and stick to that.

Stopped here for a quick lunch based on two other Yelp reviews. Nothing fancy, but the food is delicious. Lots of seafood and shellfish prepared a bunch of different ways. The grilled crabcake sandwich was outstanding. Friendly staff and good food . . what more can you ask for?

The food is good, but nothing special. I had some blue crab and my friend ordered snow crab (we shared), everything was cooked well and you can ask for as much melted butter/old bay you want. My main complaint is with the middle-aged woman who seems to be in charge behind the front counter. I will not be returning because of her. I was in a party of 2, and 2 parties of 4 and a party of 6 came afterwards, and were seated before us. I understand that part, as large tables are emptied, they fill it with larger groups. Then 2 people left, and I figured, finally we can eat! (we had been waiting for roughly 40 minutes, everyone was going for the all you can eat crab). Next thing I knew, a couple that had just arrived 5 minutes ago gets seated. Of course, I was a little upset, and asked the woman what's going on. She said "I dont know why they skipped you" - She's the only one calling out the names for the parties, so SHE skipped me, and did not even make an effort to apologize. Luckily a group of 2 just left and we were seated promptly, still without an apology. Our table was behind the wall of the counter, and we were amazed at the lack of customer service they had, and how much they talked behind their customers backs, on pretty much everyone that walked in! One lady politely asked if they had any tables open, was told no and left. Right after she walked out of the door, I hear from the lady "wtf does she want us to do, open up the roof to this place??" They talk, and the workers continue to talk in Russian. Ok, I understand it's tough working in restaurant business, I've worked in restaurants and fast food, but the lady who walked in was perfectly nice and asked politely. There was no reason for that comment. And as we ate our meal, they continued with bitching/bashing on customers behind their backs in english and russian (I think). The waittress we had seemed nice, but we will not be returning.

Place is pretty simple, the smell of the place isnt that great...well it is a crab house. Had the jumbo shrimp, very plump and good. Ordered 12 crabs and had the crab cake sandwich. Both were good, came with vinegar and butter for the crabs. Very simple place with brown paper and paper towels on the table. Service was fast and good, but it wasnt too busy when we were there, a little before noon on a sat. Would go again if I visit Ocean city again.
